Internal steel screens
An internal steel screen is a glazed partition made from slim steel sections, usually with a grid of glass panes and an optional door. It divides two spaces while letting daylight pass straight through, so a dark hallway or a deep kitchen borrows light from the room next to it.

How internal steel screens work
Each screen is drawn from your survey measurements, fabricated in steel and powder coated, then glazed on site with toughened or laminated safety glass. Because the sections are steel rather than timber or aluminium, the glazing bars stay slim even on tall openings, which is what gives the screen its fine, architectural look.
Most of the screens we fit replace a stud wall or fill an opening that has already been knocked through. If the wall is load-bearing, the structural work and steel beam come first; we take final measurements once the opening is formed and plastered so the frame fits tight to the finished reveals.

Questions about internal steel screens
How much does an internal steel screen cost?
A typical 2.4m-wide screen with a single door is usually between £3,800 and £7,500 fitted, including VAT. Size, the number of doors, glass type and access are what move the price; we confirm a fixed figure after a free survey.
Do internal steel screens need building regulations approval?
A screen that simply replaces a non-structural partition usually does not, but the glass must be safety glass where it sits in a door or low down. If the screen is on a protected escape route, for example in a three-storey house, it may need fire-rated glazing and building control sign-off. We check this at survey.
Can you fit a screen into an existing doorway?
Yes. A screen can fill an existing opening, widen a doorway or replace a whole stud wall. If the wall is load-bearing, a structural engineer specifies a beam first and the screen is measured once the opening is plastered.
What glass do you use?
Toughened safety glass is standard. Laminated glass is available for extra acoustic performance or where a pane must hold together if broken, and reeded or frosted panes add privacy.
Is the screen genuine steel?
Yes. Our steel screens are fabricated from steel sections and powder coated. If budget is tight we also offer a steel-look aluminium screen, and we always say clearly which one you are being quoted for.
How long does fitting take?
Most single screens are fitted and glazed in one to two days once the frame arrives on site. Larger or multi-screen jobs take longer, and we confirm the programme before we start.
