Steel sliding doors
A steel sliding door is a glazed steel door that runs along a track instead of swinging open, either on a visible top-hung track or into a pocket in the wall. It saves floor space and is a good choice where a hinged door would clash with furniture or a radiator.

How steel sliding doors work
Sliding doors are common between living spaces and home offices, and in utility or boot rooms where space is tight. A face-fixed track shows the hardware as a feature, while a concealed track or pocket system keeps the look minimal.
The wall above the opening must carry the track, so we check what is behind the plaster on survey. Soft-close dampers stop the door from banging, and we can add a floor guide or a lock for privacy.

Questions about steel sliding doors
How much does an internal steel sliding door cost?
A single steel sliding door on a face-fixed track usually costs £2,900 to £6,500 fitted, including VAT. Pocket systems and bi-parting pairs cost more.
Do sliding doors need a bottom track?
No. Our sliders hang from the top, with a small floor guide to stop the door swinging. The floor stays flat.
Can a steel door slide into the wall?
Yes, with a pocket system built into a stud wall. It is best planned before plastering, because the pocket frame is built into the wall.
Are sliding doors good for sound?
A sliding door is less airtight than a hinged door, so it lets more sound through. If privacy is the priority, a hinged or pivot door with seals performs better.
Can a sliding door be locked?
Yes. A hook lock or privacy lock can be fitted to the leading edge.
How wide can a sliding door be?
Single leaves are usually up to around 1.2m wide; wider openings use two leaves that part in the middle.
