Steel bifold doors
Steel bifold doors are a run of glazed steel door panels that fold and stack to one or both sides, opening most of a wall to the garden. Steel keeps the panel frames slimmer than most aluminium bifolds while carrying double glazing.

How steel bifold doors work
Bifolds suit wide openings in rear extensions where you want the inside and outside to join in summer. Most sets include a traffic door so you can use one panel as an everyday door without folding the whole run.
Steel bifolds are heavier than aluminium, so the structural opening, head support and threshold need to be planned properly. We work from your architect or engineer drawings and survey the finished opening before manufacture.

Questions about steel bifold doors
How much do steel bifold doors cost?
A three to five panel set of steel bifold doors usually costs £9,000 to £20,000 fitted, including VAT, depending on width, height and glazing.
Are steel bifolds heavier than aluminium?
Yes, so the opening needs a suitable beam and the threshold must be level and solid. We check this with your builder or engineer before manufacture.
Can I have a level threshold with bifolds?
Yes, with a drainage channel outside. A low upstand threshold gives better weather resistance on exposed sites.
How many panels do I need?
It depends on the opening width; panels are usually between 700mm and 1,000mm wide. We suggest a layout that balances sightlines and stack size.
Are bifolds better than French doors?
Bifolds open a wider gap, while French doors with fixed side panels give more glass when closed and fewer frames. We show you both options for your opening.
Do steel bifolds need maintenance?
Keep the track and drainage clean, and lubricate hinges and rollers once a year.
