Fitting internal steel screens in Cheshire

Cheshire projects are often larger detached homes and period properties, where steel bifolds, French doors and statement pivot doors are common.

You get one fixed written price after survey, with the material, glass and finish named on the quote. Lead times are confirmed in writing when you sign off the drawings, so you can plan the rest of your project around them.

We cover Chester, Wilmslow, Knutsford and Macclesfield, plus the villages and towns between them. Lead time is 4–6 weeks from signed-off drawings, and we confirm dates in writing when you sign off the drawings.

What we can include

  • Reeded, frosted or acoustic laminated glass to any pane
  • Slim steel glazing bars, typically 25–40mm sightlines depending on system
  • Lever handles, pull handles and locks in black, brass or stainless
  • Toughened or laminated safety glass to BS EN 12150 / BS EN 14449

An internal steel screen is a glazed partition made from slim steel sections, usually with a grid of glass panes and an optional door. Read the full guide to internal steel screens.

Internal steel screens in Cheshire: questions

Do internal steel screens need building regulations approval?

A screen that simply replaces a non-structural partition usually does not, but the glass must be safety glass where it sits in a door or low down. If the screen is on a protected escape route, for example in a three-storey house, it may need fire-rated glazing and building control sign-off. We check this at survey.

Can you fit a screen into an existing doorway?

Yes. A screen can fill an existing opening, widen a doorway or replace a whole stud wall. If the wall is load-bearing, a structural engineer specifies a beam first and the screen is measured once the opening is plastered.

Are prices higher in Cheshire?

Our guide prices are the same nationally. The fixed price for your job depends on its size and specification, plus any site factors such as access or parking, which we note at survey.
