Steel sliding doors in Tyne and Wear
Steel sliding doors in Tyne and Wear are made to measure from a free survey and fitted by our installation team, with surveys across Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, Gateshead and the surrounding area.
Fitting steel sliding doors in Tyne and Wear
Tyne and Wear's Tyneside flats and Victorian terraces in Jesmond and Heaton are popular for internal screens that brighten long hallways.
Our team handles survey, drawings, fabrication and fitting, so you deal with one contact from start to finish. Because each frame is drawn from your measurements, the steel sliding door fits the opening you have, not a stock size.
We cover Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, Gateshead and Whitley Bay, plus the villages and towns between them. Lead time is 4–6 weeks from signed-off drawings, and we confirm dates in writing when you sign off the drawings.
What we can include
- Toughened, reeded or acoustic laminated glass
- Survey of the wall structure for track fixings
- Soft-close dampers in both directions
- Recessed flush pulls or bar handles
A steel sliding door is a glazed steel door that runs along a track instead of swinging open, either on a visible top-hung track or into a pocket in the wall. Read the full guide to steel sliding doors.

Steel sliding doors in Tyne and Wear: questions
Can a steel door slide into the wall?
Yes, with a pocket system built into a stud wall. It is best planned before plastering, because the pocket frame is built into the wall.
How much does an internal steel sliding door cost?
A single steel sliding door on a face-fixed track usually costs £2,900 to £6,500 fitted, including VAT. Pocket systems and bi-parting pairs cost more.
Are prices higher in Tyne and Wear?
Our guide prices are the same nationally. The fixed price for your job depends on its size and specification, plus any site factors such as access or parking, which we note at survey.
