Fitting steel bifold doors in Cumbria
Cumbria's Lakeland stone houses face hard weather, so external steel is specified with galvanised frames and durable coatings.
Our team handles survey, drawings, fabrication and fitting, so you deal with one contact from start to finish. Lead times are confirmed in writing when you sign off the drawings, so you can plan the rest of your project around them.
We cover Carlisle, Kendal, Keswick and Penrith, plus the villages and towns between them. Lead time is 6–8 weeks from signed-off drawings, and we confirm dates in writing when you sign off the drawings.
What we can include
- Thermally improved steel with double glazing
- Three to six panel runs, folding left, right or split
- Traffic door for everyday use
- Level or low threshold with drainage
Steel bifold doors are a run of glazed steel door panels that fold and stack to one or both sides, opening most of a wall to the garden. Read the full guide to steel bifold doors.

Steel bifold doors in Cumbria: questions
Do steel bifolds need maintenance?
Keep the track and drainage clean, and lubricate hinges and rollers once a year.
Can I have a level threshold with bifolds?
Yes, with a drainage channel outside. A low upstand threshold gives better weather resistance on exposed sites.
