Fitting internal steel French doors in Dorset
Dorset's coastal homes and Arts and Crafts houses around Bournemouth and Poole often pair external steel doors with sea-facing extensions.
Safety glass is standard in every internal pane, and we check whether fire-rated glazing is needed before anything is ordered. Our team handles survey, drawings, fabrication and fitting, so you deal with one contact from start to finish.
We cover Bournemouth, Poole, Dorchester and Weymouth, plus the villages and towns between them. Lead time is 4–6 weeks from signed-off drawings, and we confirm dates in writing when you sign off the drawings.
What we can include
- No threshold: flooring runs through the opening
- Lever handles in black, brass, bronze or stainless
- Butt or concealed hinges, flush bolt on secondary leaf
- Toughened safety glass, reeded or acoustic options

Internal steel French doors in Dorset: questions
Can French doors fit an existing opening?
Yes. We measure the opening after any plastering and make the frame to fit. If the opening is not square, the frame is set out to suit.
Do internal steel doors need a threshold?
No. Inside the house we leave a small gap under the doors so the flooring runs straight through without a step.
Are prices higher in Dorset?
Our guide prices are the same nationally. The fixed price for your job depends on its size and specification, plus any site factors such as access or parking, which we note at survey.
