Fire-rated steel screens in Somerset
From Taunton to Wells, we supply and fit fire-rated steel screens across Somerset, each one fabricated to the measurements taken at your survey.
Fitting fire-rated steel screens in Somerset
Somerset includes Bath's Georgian stone terraces, many of them listed, so we pay close attention to consent and sympathetic design.
Because each frame is drawn from your measurements, the fire-rated steel screen fits the opening you have, not a stock size. Safety glass is standard in every internal pane, and we check whether fire-rated glazing is needed before anything is ordered.
We cover Bath, Taunton, Frome and Wells, plus the villages and towns between them. Lead time is 6–10 weeks depending on system, and we confirm dates in writing when you sign off the drawings.
What we can include
- Black or RAL powder coat within the tested finish range
- Complete tested systems: frame, glass, seals and fixings
- Integrity (E) and insulation (EI) ratings to suit the route
- Doorsets complete with closers and ironmongery
A fire-rated steel screen is a glazed steel partition designed to resist the spread of fire and, depending on its rating, heat for a set period such as 30 or 60 minutes. Read the full guide to fire-rated steel screens.

Fire-rated steel screens in Somerset: questions
When do I need a fire-rated glazed screen?
When the screen forms part of a protected escape route or a fire-separating wall, such as the stair enclosure in many three-storey houses or a commercial corridor. Your building control body or fire engineer confirms the rating needed.
Are fire-rated screens much thicker?
Frames and glass are a little deeper than non-rated screens, but steel systems keep the bars slim compared with most alternatives.
