Fire-rated steel screens in Cumbria
Fire-rated steel screens in Cumbria are made to measure from a free survey and fitted by our installation team, with surveys across Carlisle, Kendal, Keswick and the surrounding area.
Fitting fire-rated steel screens in Cumbria
Cumbria's Lakeland stone houses face hard weather, so external steel is specified with galvanised frames and durable coatings.
Lead times are confirmed in writing when you sign off the drawings, so you can plan the rest of your project around them. Because each frame is drawn from your measurements, the fire-rated steel screen fits the opening you have, not a stock size.
We cover Carlisle, Kendal, Keswick and Penrith, plus the villages and towns between them. Lead time is 6–10 weeks depending on system, and we confirm dates in writing when you sign off the drawings.
What we can include
- Black or RAL powder coat within the tested finish range
- Doorsets complete with closers and ironmongery
- Complete tested systems: frame, glass, seals and fixings
- Integrity (E) and insulation (EI) ratings to suit the route
A fire-rated steel screen is a glazed steel partition designed to resist the spread of fire and, depending on its rating, heat for a set period such as 30 or 60 minutes. Read the full guide to fire-rated steel screens.
Send us a few details and photos of the opening, and we will arrange a free survey.
Fire-rated steel screens in Cumbria: questions
Are fire-rated screens much thicker?
Frames and glass are a little deeper than non-rated screens, but steel systems keep the bars slim compared with most alternatives.
When do I need a fire-rated glazed screen?
When the screen forms part of a protected escape route or a fire-separating wall, such as the stair enclosure in many three-storey houses or a commercial corridor. Your building control body or fire engineer confirms the rating needed.
