Fitting steel pivot doors in County Durham
County Durham projects include stone cottages and Victorian terraces, often with a rear extension that a steel screen connects to the house.
Our team handles survey, drawings, fabrication and fitting, so you deal with one contact from start to finish. You get one fixed written price after survey, with the material, glass and finish named on the quote.
We cover Durham, Darlington, Barnard Castle and Chester-le-Street, plus the villages and towns between them. Lead time is 5–6 weeks from signed-off drawings, and we confirm dates in writing when you sign off the drawings.
What we can include
- Planned with your floor finish and screed depth
- Fixed side panels to complete a full screen
- Offset floor and head pivot with smooth, controlled swing
- Optional soft-close and hold-open pivot mechanisms
A steel pivot door is a glazed steel door that rotates on a pivot set into the floor and head of the frame, rather than on side hinges. Read the full guide to steel pivot doors.

Steel pivot doors in County Durham: questions
How big can a pivot door be?
Much larger than a hinged door. The practical limit depends on glass weight and the pivot hardware, and we confirm the maximum size for your opening at design stage.
Are pivot doors suitable for bathrooms?
They can be, with obscure or reeded glass and a privacy lock, though a hinged or sliding door is often more practical in a small room.
