Fitting internal steel French doors in Newport and Monmouthshire
Monmouthshire's market towns and rural conversions often have large openings that suit full-height steel screens.
Because each frame is drawn from your measurements, the internal steel French door fits the opening you have, not a stock size. Safety glass is standard in every internal pane, and we check whether fire-rated glazing is needed before anything is ordered.
We cover Newport, Monmouth, Abergavenny and Chepstow, plus the villages and towns between them. Lead time is 4–6 weeks from signed-off drawings, and we confirm dates in writing when you sign off the drawings.
What we can include
- Any RAL colour in a textured or smooth powder coat
- No threshold: flooring runs through the opening
- Glazed top light option for tall or arched openings
- Butt or concealed hinges, flush bolt on secondary leaf
Internal steel French doors are a pair of glazed steel doors that meet in the middle, hung in an opening between two rooms. Read the full guide to internal steel French doors.

Internal steel French doors in Newport and Monmouthshire: questions
Do internal steel doors need a threshold?
No. Inside the house we leave a small gap under the doors so the flooring runs straight through without a step.
Which way do the doors open?
They can open into either room. We check furniture, radiators and switches on survey so the doors swing clear.
